TPZ Energy Conservation Initiatives
Small-Scale Variable Speed Drives (VSDs)
Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) are installed to optimize the performance of equipment such as conveyor belts, fans, threshers, and other rotating machinery. We anticipate significant energy savings through their partial-load operation and load-matching control capabilities.
Thermal Insulation (Lagging) of Steam Systems
As part of our ongoing initiatives, we have systematically applied insulation throughout our facilities. This is a crucial step in reducing heat losses and significantly improving our overall thermal efficiency, resulting in tangible benefits in terms of energy consumption and operational costs.
Lithium Powered Forklifts
TPZ continues to is actively contribute towards its Environmental Social & Governance goals by acquiring lithium battery powered forklifts for its Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE). which offer faster charging times, longer lifespans, and consistent power delivery compared to traditional lead-acid batteries.
3.1 MVA grid-tied solar photovoltaic (PV) system
Our 3.1 MVA grid-tied solar photovoltaic (PV) system, one of the largest private solar projects in the Zimbabwean processing sector. The system is part of our long-term strategy to improve energy sustainability and reduce dependence on grid electricity.
